Why Coaching Works
Coaching works because people get much more done when they have someone calling them to account, challenging their inertia and pointing the way through blind spots. Unlike, colleagues, friends or family a Coach has the time, skill and experience to give each client exactly what he or she need at their specific level of play.

Performance Coaching - Clients hire me to significantly improve the results and fulfilment they get from their job. They are interested in working more productively with greater emphasis on their strengths. They are interested in having a life not just a job. They are interested in checking out that they are not missing something obvious in terms of the own focus and success. They are interested in making transitions with more success and less wasted effort. They are open to alternatives on how to handle the day to day challenges.
The Behavioural Approach
I first get an agreement with our coaching clients and their managers on two key variables: 1) what are the key behaviours that will make the biggest positive change in increased leadership effectiveness and 2) who are the key stakeholders that should determine (6-12 months later) if this change has occurred.
The Value of Behavioural Coaching for Executives
People often ask, "Can executives really change their behaviour?" The answer is definitely yes. If they didn't change, I would never get paid (and I almost always get paid). At the top of major organisations even a small positive change in behavior can have a big impact. From an organisational perspective, the fact that the executive is trying to change anything (and is being a role model for personal development) may be even more important than what the executive is trying to change. With top executives, behaviour may be the only leadership attribute that can be changed in a cost-effective manner. At that level it is usually "too late" for technical or functional education.
