Climate Changers Required – Apply Within

Climate Changers Required – Apply Within

Could you change the Western Culture in your lifetime? Fat chance.

How about European culture? Less fatter chance.

How about British Culture? A 400 year project for the Romans. (Cue – what did the Romans do for us...?)

How about an industry culture? (A work in progress since Latham’s  Constructing the Team in 1994)

How about your business culture? At least a two year job.

Culture Change can be daunting, but the good news is….

You can change the Leadership Climate with one conversation.

Climates are the immediately alterable medium that you operate in – in the moment.

In a project workshop this week the climate went from stifled to powerful calls to action and accountability – all in the space of ten minutes.  ‘All’ that was said was ‘These are fine words, I don’t believe we really mean it’. That opened the flood gates of collaborative possibility. Someone decided to change the climate to get a different result.

Working climates are changed in a heartbeat when someone speaks a ‘moment of truth’.  If you look carefully you’ll notice the biggest breakthroughs, moment’s of joy, passion, wisdom, progress were created in a moment.

Moments of truth don’t require status or job titles or qualifications. The ‘only’ qualification is a commitment to fiercely dig for current reality, to step over nothing, to question the status quo in the face of adversity, fear, or dissent.

Courage is the name of the game. Creating the climate where people feel good about themselves when they step up beyond fear and conformity.

Climates are expanded by modelling the conditions. If you want humility, be vulnerable.

If you want courage be brave.

What climate could you change for bigger results right now, today?

By the way, you do have time… a 5 minute conversation can reverberate for years.
