Look How Far You’ve Come…

Measuring your progress against what is left to be done and what’s next can be uninspiring and downright demotivating. Notice how the horizon always moves away from you as you walk or sail towards it?

It is far healthier, accurate and spirit lifting to measure progress against how far you have already travelled.

This is a superb, simple little exercise to round off this year and begin thinking about what you want to accomplish next year.  Use it with your team, your business, your significant relationship or your family. Myself and Mrs. Fox sit down each year and answer the following. It’s very rewarding:

  1. What have been your accomplishments this last year (personally and professionally)?
  2. What difficulties did you have to overcome to realise those accomplishments?
  3. What qualities did you surface to get past those difficulties?
  4. Given 1-3 above what is now possible for you in 2013 or, indeed, what is your wish list of goals?

Festive greetings of the season.

Best wishes all.
